Women of Haghill during WW1 Theatre Project

Asylon Theatre would like to invite you to a script-in-hand reading of our play Etta's War at Platform, 1000 Westerhouse Road Easterhouse G34 9JW on Tuesday 25th September at 6.30pm. (tomorrow night)
Between 1914 and 1919, 875 men and boys from Dennistoun died in World War 1. Each of those men and boys had a mother, a wife, a sweetheart, sisters and daughters - and those families lived in the building where YOU live now.
Etta's War is the story of the women and men who fought their own battles on the Home Front and whose lives were changed for ever by "The War to End all Wars". One hundred years on, with conflict continuing throughout the world, their stories remain relevant to us all and reflect the cultural diversity of those affected by all wars.
The play is directed by Mary McCluskey and written by Jack Dickson. It will be performed on the streets framing the old Haghill Public School on Sunday 31st March 2019 - marking both Mother's Day and the centenary of the Treaty of Versailles, and forming part of a larger site-specific, community event.
And this is where YOU come in! 100 years on, this is your area, these are your streets - and we want YOU to be involved. Yes, Etta's War needs YOU!
The play features a large Intergenerational Community Chorus who will help tell the story of Etta and her family. We're looking for men and women, boys and girls of all ages to be soldiers and Suffragettes, postmen and women, neighbours, friends - and enemies. Let's make this a REAL Community Event.
