Leaves in back court, Onslow Drive

Any tips for dealing with the leaves that gather in tenement back courts? Council say bag them and arrange for a bulk uplift but it seems wrong to just send lots of black bags full of leaves to landfill. Too many to try and compost them ourselves in the back garden. Alternative is to take several carloads to the garden refuse area in the recycling centre / tip at Queenslie but this also seems like a lot of work and still not that good for the environment. Anyone have any ideas.

you could put them in the grey food waste bin (they are organic and will compost down in the councils food waste collection), burn them ands scatter the ashes as its good fertilizer or put them in black bags and they can get taken away with your normal weekly refuse uplift, ever since the work at the refuse department was contracted out to private companies its get so much harder to get rid of certain rubbish those days.
