Local Artist Liz Reid Showcases Artwork at Tibo Bistro in Dennistoun
Glasgow-based artist Liz Reid has recently adorned the walls of Tibo Bistro, located on Duke Street in Dennistoun, with her captivating artwork. Visitors to the bistro can now feast their eyes on an array of drawings and paintings, primarily featuring Glasgow's landscapes, particularly those of the east end. Liz's collection even includes some picturesque views of Dennistoun itself, such as a remarkable depiction of Tibo Bistro.
Liz expressed her gratitude towards Tibo Bistro's owners, Angus and Usman, for their enthusiastic support of the local community and their generous offer of exhibition space. Her artistic focus lies primarily in capturing architectural subjects, often exploring unconventional and lesser-known aspects of the city. Liz's artwork delves into the overlooked corners of Glasgow, revealing the beauty of back lanes, everyday rooftop vistas, tenements, and the vibrant city dwellers engaged in their daily activities.
Having grown up in Paisley, Liz later pursued her passion for illustration and printmaking at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art in Dundee. She spent many years residing in Glasgow's east end and has had an extensive creative career in local government. Notably, she served as the Design Adviser for South Lanarkshire Council and chaired Creative Exchange, a Scottish forum for public sector creatives. Currently, Liz works as a full-time artist, operating from her studio at Many Studios in the Barras.
One of Liz's featured artworks at Tibo Bistro is a striking representation of Annfield Place (illustration shown top of page), showcasing a unique architectural feature known locally as 'high backs.' This distinctive arrangement comprises commercial premises situated directly behind the main tenement residential building, resulting in a rooftop back green and drying area.
All the artworks on display at Tibo Bistro are framed originals and are available for purchase. For those eager to explore more of Liz Reid's remarkable creations, her Instagram page @lizreidart and website www.lizreidart.com offer a deeper glimpse into her artistic world.
