burglary

Hi
My neighbour was burgled this week, one of the factors was that the front door in the close was open.  The police said that there hadnt been any breakins in a while in the dennistoun area, so please everyone out there please ensure your front door to the close is closed behind you when you go out and closed when you come in, reducing any opportunity for burglaries

There seems to be a rash of it around - my new bicycle was taken from the close where it was chained to the railings - between 12 and 1pm when the bin men were about! Everyone really needs to be more careful and I agree about the service bells - since the post office cut the second delivery the service bells are on for much longer and it leaves everyone vulnerable.

My neighbour was burgled last night -Aberfoyle Street. As the OP says, please, please take care to ensure close doors are secure. We don't have a services buzzer.

The neighbour above me was burgled on Tuesday. It was between 1 and4 . The bin men left the door open and I closed it on my way to work. They smashed the door pane to my neighbours flat.they also said they had McMillan nurses buzzing late at night claiming they were collecting for charity. So please be careful

Yes service button leaves the Close insecure for half the day when most folk's are out at work! I believe it should be disabled and the postie buzz someone to get in whom also check's who he is, a bit too much to ask in some closes though.

One of the drives, but it shouldn't really matter where, The issue here is it happened and we should be vigilant

What street was the burglary?

One of the biggest problems I have with the close door being left open is the bin men. I have phoned several times to ask them to ensure that they close the doors behind them for this reason. It's improving but if more people reported it happening, maybe we can stop it for good.

What about the service button into closes? This has always concerned me as anyone can just press that to get into the close from early in the morning until lunchtime.

I know the postie needs it etc but it always unnerves me to think that at such a quiet time of the day anyone can just press it and wander in.

This is worrying, especially because I'm having an ongoing fight with my factor due to the fact the close doors aren't locking.
