Sunlight onstructing trees

I stay on Finlay drive backing onto Roselea Drive. I am findin the trees in the middle closes are getting unbeareably large. Basically if I have my windows at the back open soo much dirt and dust gets in and the rooms are never clean. Also they completely obscure the sunshine all day. There is about a meter square area at the most that recieves sunshine. So I am not able to sit out. This is really annoying me because I feel the courtyard is of no benefit. One of the plus points I thought especially staying on the ground floor. Does anyone know if these trees can be cut down or back and who actually owns them!!

Why not just look up the information? -www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3718

As far as I'm aware, all trees in the city area are covered by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs). This means you can't fell them unless they pose a health and safety risk (i.e. they might fall down). I can't remember if Glasgow City Council has a Tree Officer anymore, but if you contact Land and Environment Services they'll give you some advice.

Linzi if the trees are bothering you get them cut back, contact the council first and ask them about the service they provide to do this. People come before trees.

I understand the frustration. Â Perhaps they can be trimmed back, without actually removing them but I feel so strongly the area needs MORE trees than it has now.
The air quality in our neighbourhood here is really poor and the trees play a huge role in cleansing the air by consuming carbon dioxide emissions. 'Mon the trees!
