Short of hiring a crane (!), there's not much the parent gulls can do to "rescue" the fledglings once they've left/fallen out of the nest. They're too heavy for the parents to hoist back up to the roofs. Parents are never far away from their young - they still fly down to feed the grounded chicks and scare off predators (ie, US).

Doll, sounds like one of the ones of Garthland Drive. They've been wandering around Findlay, Whitehill, Garthland and Ingleby for the past week. One has now made it back up to the roofs but the other is yet to do so. The parents have had a fledging every year on the roof opposite me for 4 years and this is the first one that has fallen off before it could fly. This little one has been wandering up to the close doors crying - amazed some horrible cat hasn't gobbled it up yet!

As much as I'm not keen on seagulls, the baby ones screaming for their mums really pull at the heart strings!

We saw a fledgling yesterday wandering around the back of the estate on Finlay Drive, crying out, it was so sad! I couldnt see it this morning so hoping it got rescued! The gulls on the rooftops were swooping about so we went straight inside.

Where I work, the seagulls every year insist in nesting on the top of a steep roof.We can see the roof from our building and our hearts are in our mouths every time we see a baby slip down - some don't survive :( But the parents do panic and do attack!

If anyone is on Garthland Drive, the fledgling on the North facing flat roofs has fallen/left the nest too early and is wandering around the street and surrounds crying its head off. The parents are obviously stressed and dive bombing passersby who get too close. There was another grounded fledging who seems to have made it back onto the roofs yesterday on Garthland Drive. Hopefully if/when the remaining chick finds its wings parents will calm down.

They are driving me crazy my whole flat is being woken up every morning around 4am when they wake up. They are nesting on the roofs across from me on Roslea drive.

Not been attacked but they are so noisy them keep me awake at night! Especially since im sleeping with my windows open in this lovely weather.

There must be a nesting site somewhere local as they are noisy all night long!

Fledglings are leaving the nest. Live and let live.
