Day nurseries

Was looking to find a day nursery in Dennistoun as I am on the waiting list for Onslow Drive nursery ...bit fed up about it tbh as I have stayed in Dennistoun all my life and can't get a nursery place for my wee ones and I have to return to work shortly. // Therefore I will need to go private. Anyone with good reviews of local private nurseries will be much appreciated along with fees if possible:)

My wee girl went to Play Away Nursery opposite Tennents Brewery. Would recommend it, but you should go along to both and have a look around to see which one you prefer. Fees are very similar, approx £40 per day. Good luck!

Thanks everyone for the replies ...I'm not sure how private nurseries work tbh as my wee one is 3 and should get 15 hrs free? Does this still apply with private nurseries? And how many hours do I need to pay for if she does get the free hours? Is there a set limit? Thanks for any info

You won't get the 15hrs free at private nurseries. It's usually half or full day. If your wee one is already 3 I'd keep pestering the nursery until you get a place.

My son is 3 and attends a private nursery and it's partnershipped with Glasgow City Council meaning I get a refund of the 15 hours from my fees. On the council website there is a list of all partner nurseries. Hope you get it sorted.

For us Playaway - Agree with Whitehill Girl you should see both and them you'll see how nice it is!

My wee one went there and I cannot recommed it enough, lovely bright surroundings, wonderful staff. I hate to say this but it is very unlikely you will get a baby place at a council nursery, you'll probably get one when there are 2 are there are more spaces then.

I wouldn't dismiss the Council Nurseries.  I am a working mum and my child has attended Dennistoun Early Years since she was 9 months old.  The best thing for you to do is put an application form in as soon as possible whilst in the meantime your little one attends private nursery.  That's exactly

My granddaughter's name was put onto the Dennistoun nursery waiting list when she was two and still did not qualify for a place.  When I phoned Onslow Drive, which is where all the spaces are determined (you have a choice of three nurseries) she was told they were still trying to find places for those born in January/February, so she stood n o chance, but her name has been kept on the list hopefully to get in next year. My daughter has put her daughter into the Seton House nursery part-time and is paying for her fees.   I know every child from 3 is supposed to be allocated a place, but the reality of Dennistoun is that just isn't possible because of the volumn of children in the area.  Maybe if you are prepared to go further afield (there is a Council list where your child can go free),  it would be possible, but as a gran, I must confess I am not prepared to travel miles, to collect a toddler from nursery which is what would happen.  She has settled in very well in Seton and the location is very central for both sets of grandparents to collect her. Just don't always believe what you should get and what you will get. We should all be shouting for more Council nursery premises if they want mothers back to work.
