Does anyone know when the swingpark in Edmund St where I used to play in the 1950's was erected.

Nope but we lived just down from it in 1969. Allan was born in 1947 and always remembers it being there. Allan says a bamb landed there during the war, at least that is what he was told LOL

There is a picture of this swingpark on the Britain From Above Website.

Thanks for  the info Mentalist. I'll have a look.
Beth, I've heard a story about a bomb too but I think it must have been on the other side of the road from the park. There was always a piece of spare ground there when I was growing up so I assume that's where it was. My grandmother was born in Fisher St and subsequently moved to Edmund St. Her name is on the 1911 census at Edmund St and I was wondering how old the swingpark was---if it was old enough for her to have played there. I somehow doubt it. I think she would have lived in the block which became spare ground. I take it that we're speaking of the second world war when we speak of bombing in that area.

I don't know when it was built but I played there in the '30s when I was a boy,and the bomb was in Eveline Street midway up the hill on the right side.the only injuries I know of was to a boy that my brother knew, and he lost part f a foot in the blast.
