Scottish power

Hi

Scottish power have put signs up in our close advising that they will be replacing electrical wires in the close and in each of the flats via a 3rd party on a specified date at the beginning of November.  As the owner/occupier I would have expected to receive a letter addressed to me personally advising of the required changes.  Has anyone had this in their close, trying to establish whether or not it is genuine?

Hi. We had ours done a month or so since, theyre doing a lot of tennements. I'd reccomend talking to the contractors // about exactly what they are doing in the close (and your flat!) We had some damage to our 100 year old tiles....never broken any until now, and they just smashed them off to put cable ducts! We were horrified and told them to replace the damaged ones. They found similar looking tiles (the dado ones...really nice) but in the process of replacing 2 short tiles they smashed 4 or 5 more!

I wish I'd just asked them what was going to be done in detail but it was a whirlwind of several men doing a lot of stuff. The damage was not reported to us (they covered the gap with polyfilla).....the repair was bad and they threw away all the new tiles that they broke. We're looking at getting them professionally replaced.

Anyway....rant over. Just to say, dont let /contractors/ get away with any damage, I'm sure Scottish Power wouldnt want that to happen either.
Jim

It is genuine. Make sure you are there when they are routing the trunking for the new cables in the close. Aesthetics are NOT considered. Shortest route is taken when running the cables which has proved to be very unsightly.  //

2 years ago we all got new gas pipes installed and the first I knew about it as an owner/ occupier was when they started drilling wholes into our staircase....... I contacted our factor to ask whether they knew about it - which they apparently did  but didn't pass on to everyone...
If you have factors get in touch with them first.

It is genuine - our close was done a while ago. They will need access to your home. I was able to choose my own time rather than take a day off work.
