Leaking bay window

Anne posted on the 25/12/2013 12:58:01 AM

With the recent bad weather I have noticed some water leaking through the top of the bay window at the south westerly facing side. I am on the first floor and I have new double glazing, it is coming from above this. Does anyone know what this is and who I could contact to fix it?

We've had something similar, not from above our bay but from above another window. It seems to happen only during heavy rain when the gutters above overflow and run down the wall above - guessing the sheer volume of water means it penetrates through any gaps or faults in the sandstone to the extent it reaches the interior. In any case, it's one to ask your factor to look into, not that ours seems to have done anything despite repeated requests ...

Thank you for your replies. I have noticed the same that it only happens when it is very wet and windy.  The gutters do look like they need cleaned out too. I will get in touch with the factor and hopefully get it sorted.
