Whats happening in Dennistoun ???

Tonight I had my son and his 2 friends at White hill pool, we came out to go to the Swallow Cafe for fritters,on our way there my son had forgotten hid school bag, so the other 2 children both 9 years old arranged to go to the Swallow while we went back to get his bag, a matter of minutes, on our way back just at the corner of Meadowpark st Craigpark I witnessed the other 2 boys being assaulted, I ran up and chased these other lads away, they were older, of course with the usual vicious language and threats coming from them(Vermin)called the police to report it, at 4.30pm I waited 1 and a half hrs, called them back to be told it was a priority! waited another half our at 6.30p we had to leave as the other lads returned with weapons we decided to leave on the way down Meadowpark Street there was a police van stopped on the road, I inquired if it was me they were looking for as a report, no we are dealing with this car!!!!!!!!!! I then asked when did you get the call out for this, 30 minutes ago!!!!!!!!!!! was the response, needless to say I was furious, there was no point in talking to them as obviously the car was a priority, not an assault on children, not only this but I had to remove my son from school at the Parade as he was assaulted there on tuesday and we were not informed, this has been an issue with sever bullying within the school we have had to address but not actioned upon, luckily he is now safe in another school in the area, is it so regular now for children to assault other children that the schools and police are just not interested in following through with this, obviously cars are more of a priority, it is now 7.55pm and no contact at all from the police, they have probably out and about knocking on doors for unpaid fines and traffic violations, when is it acceptable that a car or car related issues are priority over the safety of children, this society fails them massively...

absolutely shocking David this obviously is not a concern for the police but i have seen boys annoying people and have spoke out them felt threatened people should be able to feel safe and this is not the case in Dennistoun - hope the boys are ok

David, this is of course terrible, but it doesn't sound any different than my school days in Motherwell 15 years ago.

This kind of thing (and much worse) happened on a daily basis.

The police will be putting it down to adolescent 'boys will be boys' type behaviour.  You need to convince them its more serious if you want them to listen to you

Whats happening in Dennistoun ???
message: Hi there, in future I would advise you to write anon rather than your name because you don't know who else reads these. Shocked at what you reported. I was the one who had reported the car to the police the reason behind it was over the past few nights I have noticed a group of seven kids who split up and come back together both boys and girls and had been kicking car doors and trying the door handles on the cars, mainly on Meadowpark street and surrounding streets. They do not bother to hide there faces and don't care who sees them, they were carrying screwdrivers, golf clubs and egging each other on. It's the first time I have seen this particular group as most of the teenagers round here keep to themselves, the police responded quickly to this as they had been nearby. I used the 101 service.  I am guessing it's the same kids who have targeted your son.  The kids turn up about 6ish and disappear about 8. Last night the police dealt with them and half an hour later they were back in different clothes acting like nutters. All I can assume is there parents don't care about them being out and about. Hope your son is okay. :)

What i would say is don't hide behind a curtain. I Certainly wouldn't , take a different route to them and confront them. It's either that or sit scared of them. Scare them off , its not hard , shout 'POLICE' 'STAY WHERE YOU ARE' , they will run like scolded cats

Hey thanks for the replies, to date Im still waiting for the Police to get back to me for the initial report, the group that are carrying this out are from the Ballindaloch street area, did complain to 101 online, got 3 phone calls from 3 different officers up to inspector, they all stated even though I was the reporter, I wasn't the complainant, to use a pun, Cop out,!! excuses rather than action, as I said, they're to busy dishing out fines for car offences, this just suited there lack of response, never had much confidence in the Police, Zero now, be careful people, we're not protected they way we belief we think we should be!
