Mobile Phone Reception

Laura posted on the 27/02/2014 1:51:15 PM

Just wondering if anyone has found a decent supplier. I have been with Orange for years but it looks like they switched a mast off. I am struggling to find any supplier that I can get reception with. (Roslea)

Virgin mobile is OK but not perfect. Acceptable

Vodafone is fine for me.

I was with Orange for years and had a rubbish signal. Recently ditched them and moved to O2 and haven't had any problems.

I'm on Roslea and O2 is virtually non existent in my flat. Can't wait to get out of contract...

I get all four bars with Tesco Mobile.

Something to do with masts being relocated due to highrises in Glasgow being demolished?

Called Orange about this a month ago. Reception used to be great here (Craigpark Drive) but is nonexistent now. They said I have 6 masts within 2 miles of the flat, found that hard to believe. They advised me to stand in my bay window when I use the phone...or buy a signal booster for £90. Joke. I work offshore and use my mobile for business when I'm home so it really annoys me. Looking to switch when my contract is up

This has been an issue with orange for some time now, i know for a fact via orange customer services the mast on the high rise flats at gallowgate was terminated months ago. I personally managed to end my contract 7 months early with no penalties and with no affect to my credit rating either,i visited the orange shop at trongate, used the shop phone ,took my complaint to the top department and won my case all in the space of 45 mins, walked across the road to vodafone and 24 hrs later up and running on the same number, not 1 problem at all. Good luck !!!

Cheers Tony,

What's your reception with Vodafone like? And where abouts in dennistoun are you, if you don't mind me asking?

I am with Orange and started a thread ages ago as our Reception disappeared (live in Whitehill Court).  I was sent a booster for FREE and we've rarely had a problem.

my reception is rubbish with tesco

#14 - LoveToRun replied on the 6/03/2014 11:27:03 PM

My reception with Tesco is excellent! I left Orange/EE in October due to ongoing problems with them- they let me out of my contract early for free as they has de-commissioned a mast in our area.

I agree with LoveToRun I had to leave Orange after many years due to the removal of masts and signal deterioration. Went to Tesco and no problems really at all

Hi I had orange till august last year and signal disappeared last July. Moved to Vodafone which was great until 3 weeks ago and now that has disappeared to.

#17 - anon replied on the 19/03/2014 9:52:06 AM

Orange claims that Dennistoun is designated 'no indoor reception', but I often can't get a signal outside either eg the whole of Whitehill St, Craigpark, Duke St, large sections of the Parade.....

#18 - anon_l replied on the 19/03/2014 11:49:35 AM

Ive noticed my strength on signal isnt as great as it used to be when Im out on Millerston Street. I never used to have any issues but my calls drop around this area now. Im with Vodafone.

#19 - anon replied on the 19/03/2014 11:50:14 AM

Must admit the only problem I had with Orange was indoor reception and having to move about from room to room when on the phone

#20 - anon replied on the 20/03/2014 1:06:30 AM

Im using giffgaff (uses o2 masts) and its great on cnauld rd! Giffgaff is cheaper and you dont need a contract or nothing. Topup online too. For 12quid you get unlimited internet & texts and like 300mins.

Since April last year I had same problem and been complaining since then. Not been helpful. About 6 wks ago a guy from orange told me masses been taken down and that there is a coverage glitch at craig park/ onslow drive and nothing then can do about it unless new mass goes up there.

Since then my contract ended and I'm not with Vodafone and reception is fab.

Hope that helps
