Since Alberto's closed it has been undergoing refurbishment. Does anyone know what is going to open there?

Amore ristorante who currently have a place in merchant city are opening up in there!!!

Think it is going to be a restaurant called Amore - maybe the same lot as have a restaurant in Merchant City, although the associated planning application still lists the owner as Alberto's.  The planning application is here: publicaccess.glasgow.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=MZHW4XEXW4000

Amore.  The same people who own the one in Ingram St.

I had a look at the council notice on the front of the entrance and it looks like it's going to be a restaurant with an alcohol licence. Can't recall if it was Italian or not but I suspect it is. I think we're well covered for that kind of food here but still a new business can only be good for the area.

Anyone know any more detailed information?

It is defo Amore they are advertising it on the twitter/facebook feeds already.  Think we need more of this on the Parade nice food that has a licence is all good.

From the plans it seems to be restaurant (the old alberto's) and take away (smaller shop to the right of close door). They have built in a mezzanine and cut windows through the side of the building. They have also been doing a lot of work out the back, paving etc. No other property in the block has access to the 'garden', so presuming some sort of outdoor area. They cut a doorway through the side which isn't on the plans. Not sure if this could even be used as an emergency exit as it exits into a private car park and cars could (and usually are) parked right up to the wall.

The old mills bar is taking shape now too, new big windows have been installed. It's being renovated by the esca restaurant.

I'm all for new restaurants opening in Dennistoun but I'm still flabbergasted and confused why Bibi's was knocked back, we need more variety than two new Italian restaurants

Last anon, totally agree. While it's great we are getting a new eatery, we already have 2 very successful Italians. Bibis would have been something new and exciting to try.

It is disappointing that it's two more Italian restaurants. If I want to go to Esca or Amore, I'll go to the ones in town. If I want to go for an Italian meal locally, I'll always go to Celinos. Bibi's would have provided a good alternative.

The Amore on the Parade may be a more informal affair.

I agree, I'm all for new places to go but it's too top heavy on Italian restaurants. Bibis would have been great. Something didn't smell right about that being knocked back. Hopefully the bibi owners try again.

Why do you think the duke st place will be Italian? They also have the Ingram Wynd which is kinda Scottish. Anyway there is a bar/restaurant opening at tennants on the 20th May which sounds amazing , check out the list for details

I couldn't find any details of the Tennants Bar.  You got any more info Chris?

Yes it's called vintage at drygate, they have a sister bar/ restaurant in Edinburgh and it will be run by Scott Williams of the Alloa brewery

Apparently it's opening on 10th May, really looking forward to somewhere new to visit

Thank you Chris

I hear what people are saying about an excess of Italian's, but i think this is really positive for Dennistoun. We're now starting to get the kind of places that reflect the area Dennistoun is. I also wouldn't worry too much about over provision as people i know travel from Lanarkshire, Paisley etc to go to both of the existing ones.

A real shame about Bibi's Cantina - would have provided nice variety.

All we need is a pub and things are looking good

(Oh, and how about some of that nice street paving they have been laying over town for Duke Street?)

This is really positive for Dennistoun but it would be good to have less italian food and a bit more variety.   Great re Dennistoun BBQ so that's a start.

Total agree with anon, we need a nice bar around the parade area. One where you are not intimidated to go into due to the crowdeds out side, one where nice food not Italian perhaps and good drink is served. Dennistoun has a full verity of people now and the area has to adapt to this or people will move out and nothing will change.
