Community Councillor Vacancies

Dennistoun Community Council (DCC) currently has five vacancies for community councillors - some due to retirement of long-standing members and others newly created as DCC has increased from 15 to 17 members.
Community Councillors have a role to bridge the gap between local authorities and communities and to highlight the opinions, needs and preferences of the communities they represent. More info about DCC at ww.dennistouncc.org.uk or hello@dennistouncc.org.uk
All persons aged over 16 years and resident in the community council area can stand for election. Nominations should be submitted to Glasgow City Council by 12 noon on Friday 30th May 2014. Election meeting will take place on Tuesday 10th June.
Nomination forms also available on Glasgow Community Council’s website at www.communitycouncilsglasgow.org.uk, at Dennistoun Library, Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre, Milnbank Housing Association and the Co-operative Store on Alexandra Parade.
DCC next meets on Tuesday 13th May (7pm, Gingerbread Hall). Meetings are open to the public and all are welcome.

A quick reminder to anyone who has been considering this, or anyone who hasn't yet been made aware, that forms need to be submitted by Friday.

Dennistoun community councillor positions are up for renewal/re-election at our October AGM, so this is an ideal 'suck it and see' opportunity for anyone considering it.
Also, DCC does its best in seeking to represent and act in the interests of the whole area* that it covers but active representation from outwith the Drives/conservation area would give us a more even geographical spread of community councillors.

Thanks to all who've expressed interest in community councillor vacancies. Deadline for submitting your nomination to GCC is 12 noon on Friday 30th May. Posters dotted around community venues and Duke Street shops provide full information.
There are 5 vacancies and nomination form simply requires contact details for applicant and two proposers.
DCC next meets on Tuesday 13th May (7-9pm at Gingerbread Halls, Armadale Street). All welcome to attend.
