City Park Celebrates 50 Days to Go to Glasgow 2014

Michael Clarke posted on the 9/05/2014 2:07:15 PM

Hi there,

Tenants of City Park are having a family cultural evening on Tuesday 3rd June (6pm-8pm) to celebrate the history of the building  and look towards the countdown of 50 Days to Go to Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The evening will celebrate one of  Glasgow's most recognizable buildings by showcasing the history of the building and what the Games will bring to the local community. The evening will take a look back through WD &HO Wills Tobacco Factory to the present home of established well-known companies.

The night will include speeches from a local MP Paul Martin, the buildings site manager, John Mullen, involvement from local primary schools and nurseries and Special Guests including the Glasgow 2014 mascot, Clyde. There will be lots of food, refreshments, and fun raffles with great prizes to give away.

The event is free and non-ticketed. We are looking to invite members of the public from the local community who would be interested. Spaces are limited, therefore, if you would like to come along, please reserve your space by emailing myself on michael_j_clarke@dell.com or by telephone on 07753304727.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Michael

What a night! Thanks to everyone who attended and helped out at last night.  It completely surpassed our expectations. We hoped for 200, planned for 400, and by all accounts we had more than 500 people.

We aimed to we created something big for the community, the kids, and City Park and we believe we did that.

We got come coverage today in The Herald with more to come.

We are waiting on the final total from Action for Children but again much more than they expected.

Please let me know if you have any feedback or would like any more details of the evening.

Many Thanks,

Michael
