Was it for a few drinks on Friday night for the first time with a couple of friends this is just what Dennistoun needed! Lovely décor, nice selection on offer and reasonably priced. We'll be back for sure, as they folks use it or lose it :)

message: I agree with Jen - it's a great bar with a good mix of people of different ages. I've been in three times in the early evening, and would recommend it to anyone. Good music too. All this AND salt and pepper chilli chips on the menu! I'll still go to Tibo too, because I love it, but it's great that we now have a choice.

Does the duchess have a pub quiz?

Been into the Duchess a couple of times this week, first for just a drink and second for a meal. Great place, I like that the front is a pub and the back a restaurant. It's a great middle ground between the Drygate and the more old fashioned pubs of Duke Street.  I think it's welcoming to a big range of people. Great beer selection too.

Good beer selection, even Blue Moon on tap! Got a starter of fritters.. was beautiful, food really well done, and arrived within minutes of ordering and was hot and fresh. Really pleased and will go back.

Will you be doing Sunday roasts and the like? I'm loathe to use the 'dennistouns really crying out for' phrase, but somewhere that does a good Sunday roast would be a right boon.

Thanks for the positive comments folks. We aim to please.
Being the 'New Kid On The Block will be interesting but we do have a passion for food, beers and wines.

The Duchess can serve children until 8pm as per current licensing laws.

The menu is as well balanced as we can until we get your comments and, more importantly, your input.

Watch this space for further Duchess news.

It's where the old Mills bar was on the corner where Duke st meets Garfield st (330 Duke street - G31 2DN).

Its on the corner of Garfield Street, looking forward to trying it out, can you take children in, does anyone know?

It's the old Millers pub on Duke Street.

Hi what type of food are they serving?

#3 - fiona replied on the 18/06/2014 12:06:02 AM

I know it's on Duke Street but seeing as that is one of the longest streets in Scotland can anyone say what number/ postcode to help the rest of us find it?!

I also had a meal in the Duchess earlier and the food was excellent, it has a bar section as well as a dining area.  It's been done up really nicely and they've retained a lot of the old features and character while also making it fresh and modern, service was really friendly as well.  It seems like the bar that Dennistoun has been waiting for so I'd advise you all to try it out!
