Dog fouling again

Dennistoun Community Council posted on the 10/07/2014 8:37:51 PM

Tuesday's meeting of Dennistoun Community Council was attended by representatives of Community Safety Services Glasgow specifically to address dog fouling. They stressed services are allocated in response to notification and complaints, and Dennistoun is now receiving an above average provision. Dog fouling can be reported online via Glasgow Council's RALF system, or via phone on 0800 027 7027. People have been reluctant to provide their own name, and concerned about not having specific information about dog breeds, but neither are necessary. Dennistoun currently undergoes a period of targeted intervention every two months, and in May and April 4 fixed penalty notices were issued in the drives area. The more hotspots that are reported, the more action can be taken. It was suggested that the Community Safety officers interact directly via this forum providing up to date and accurate information, but they declined to do so. They have committed to attending two community council meetings a year, though, and to providing quarterly reports.

The message is that the more it is reported by phone then more action is taken , it is all about reported figures. So people on here moaning about the dog fouling take action and report where you see it by calling the FREE PHONE NUMBER  0800 027 7027 so that the authorities class this area as a hotspot and do something about it.

Dog fouling in other areas was noted at the meeting. In the case of the streets north of Alexandra Parade Community Safety work closely with Milnbank Housing Association. The community council has been told that persistently letting a dog foul the streets can ultimately affect tenancy.

There is not just dog fouling in the drives, I live over the other side of Alexandra Parade and can assure you there is just as much muck up this end as down the drives.   Problem is there is far too many dogs in the area. I have never experienced a place with so many dogs.  The cacophony in the backcourts beside me at times is horrendous.  Lazy dog owners also put their dogs in their backcourt area to do their widdles - disgusting.
