Misjudged local pubs!

There has been lots of discussion on here about the need for different types of pubs in the Dennistoun area and we now have The Duchess and Redmonds, plus places like Tibo and even Drygate, which are all great and meets the needs of many locals. And I was one of the folk harping on about the need for these kinds of places. But recently, I decided to try some of the established local traditional pubs to see if they are as bad as I imagined. I have to say that so far I have been pleasantly surprised. I've not been in every pub in Dennistoun, yet, but I have now tried the Ladywell, The Snug, The Duke, and the Lea Rig and all of them have been absolutely fine. The staff in all of them are friendly, they are clean (the Lea Rig toilets are amazing - go in just to look at them) The drinks are reasonable. Yes, the customers tend to be a bit older, down to earth locals, but any that have spoken to me have been just as friendly as the bar staff. My opinion has changed of these pubs and I will certainly have no reservations going back into any of them! I just need to try the few pubs that I've not been in. If my liver can take the strain!! ;) So, why not give them a try too. You might be pleasantly surprised.

having been a little hesitant about going to pubs in dennistoun I went to Redmons. I was quite impressed. Good wine, nice bun and good service. As well as a nice looking and clean interior. Would go back

Just been in the new pub on Duke Street for a wee cheeky bottle of the bubbly stuff and a pint of West on our day off and met the lovely Fawn who works in the bar.
Lovely place, very friendly relaxed atmosphere, you's have got it spot on guys, think we've found our new local.
