Notes from Tuesday's Community Council meeting

The police reported that break-ins in Dennistoun have fallen in the past month, largely due to two repeat offenders being remanded. They advised that people remain vigilant as the break-ins are targeted after observation, and the primary purpose is to steal cars. Keys should be kept out of sight in the house, as some have been taken through the letter box via fishing rod and magnet.

A group of local residents are concerned at the obligation to provide free nursery places for all three year olds in the Dennistoun area not being fulfilled. If you have run into this problem or know others who have, comments are encouraged.

The reason many East Area Committee grants are awarded to local authority services or their arms-length organisations is due to a lack of applications. If the 12 page form is off-putting Glasgow Council has officers who can aid in the application process.

Milnbank Housing are one of the chosen suppliers for furniture donated after use in the Commonwealth Games athletes' village. They have 90,000 items to distribute, and it's free with free delivery to those who meet the need criteria.
