Poor Albert! I often see him around the place - he's such a friendly wee thing. I last saw him a couple of weeks ago, sitting on a windowsill in Onslow Drive, along with a grey cat and a stripy one. I'll keep an eye out and post here if I see him. Hope he comes home soon!

Has he come home? My husband reckons he saw him yesterday on Onslow Drive, so I hope Albert's made his way back!

He pops back now and again but he is STINKING of smoke so whoever takes him in is clearly a heavy smoker. He IS an outdoor cat and I'm happy to let him wander/hunt/play/do what cats do but I wish people wouldn't take him in. He has a cat flap so can come and go as he pleases but I have NO IDEA what he's eating etc. One of the people I KNOW takes him in refuses to listen when I ask her not to and took it upon herself to give him antibiotics on one occasion after he'd been in a s**** with another cat. Obviously this is unacceptable and she had no idea if he was on any already which is my concern. We had him chipped when he came to live with us so that we could find him if he really got lost and we buy cat food and litter and beds etc. Vet bills are also our responsibility so why do other people want to take him in when he doesn't live with them??? Grrr

We have a cat who was a wanderer too. He once came back badly injured by what was unmistakably human cruelty and it has taken a long time to get him back to being comfortable. He's not allowed out any more, but is happy again. I would swap your cat's experiences for mine any time.

Curious, cats choose who they live with.  If he feels safe with the smoker, he'll keep going back.  I can't see the harm.

The Mentalist, cats go where they are fed. The person feeding this cat might think they're doing no harm but what if the cat was on medication. This person is encouraging the cat by continuing to feed it. It'd soon stop visiting when the food stopped. Fair enough people taking on cats who aren't loved by their owners but Curiouscat clearly does love..and want Albert.

If you don't want your cat going where it wants to, why let it out?

Glad to hear he's OK.
It's great to know that people care about animals, but Albert is obviously a well-fed and well-loved moggie. Although as any owner will know, cats are more than capable of putting on the big eyes and hungry face to get a piece at any door!
But even if there was any doubt, Curiouscat has spoken to the person feeding them and has asked them to stop, for very good reasons. And it goes without saying that giving any animal medication like antibiotics without instruction from a vet is a no-no.
My cats don't get out, as it's not practical - they have plenty of space and it's all they've ever known, but I do sometimes feel a bit bad that they can't have the full outdoor cat experience.
Anyway, I look forward to seeing Albert still swaggering along the Drives!

Swan, He does swagger doesn't he.... Like he owns the place.
