Burglary

Jane posted on the 11/12/2014 2:37:36 PM

We were broken into on Monday this week and another flat in the close also broken into. They obviously picked lock on outer door and then smashed glass above inner door 7 feet up so obviously came prepared! A reminder to everyone to keep their front and back close doors locked at all times. We had Toshiba laptops, IPad mini, JVC camcorder stolen along with musical instruments - mandolin and banjo. Saw earlier advice about checking pubs so that's useful but if anyone hears of anything useful, please let me know.

Hi all, thanks for supportive messages. We're just off Alexandra Parade and I have heard of other break-ins recently so make sure you all take extra care with security measures.

Jane where in Dennistoun are you - this would be useful information for others to have.

A number of years ago (I don't know if they still do it) I asked the police to send someone round to look over my flat in Craigpark Drive and tell me how secure they thought it was and what changes I could make to improve its security. Putting a bar or bars over the glass above the front door was one of their recommendations, which made a lot of sense but was something I had never thought of.
It might be a good idea to contact the police to see if they still do this as they are good at picking up on the weak spots which burglars go for.
