issues with close

I have on going issues with the close door not being secure enough. If you know where to kick the door, it just pops open. I have various issues because of this, the newest one being a homeless girl sleeping in the close. I have reported it to the police but they always take too long to appear (I appreciate it's probably low in their list of priorities) I've contacted my local councillor and my factor who keep telling me the close may be getting a grant for improvement in the summer. But it doesn't help the orot now and what if it doesn't get funding.
Does anyone have any other suggestions on what I could do?

How tragic in the 21st century that someone ends up sleeping in a close. But I can understand it's not something you want to open your door to. I think your factor has a duty to fix the close so keep bugging them about it.

The Mentalist, I agree. But no I don't want to have to deal with it every morning and where she is sleeping is right opposite my front door. I'm worried word gets out and I end up with who knows how many people sleeping there. And then theres all the other problems often associated with homeless people. I also have people urinating in the close, the list goes on really. I'll keep bugging the factors but in all honesty they don't seem to care.

I guess you have one of the magnetic locking doors, there has always been problems with them as they are easy to open with a few hard kicks. in our close we have a traditional key operated yale lock and our close door has NEVER been kicked in, it may be worthwhile discussing with the factor getting one of those fitted instead of the magnetic locking kind when the grant money comes through

Anon, yes that's the type we have. They replaced the back door about 2 years ago, which I had to pay for. It wasnt cheap and I'm concerned if this grant doesn't come through then I'll have to cough up another £600 for the other door.
