Whitehill Place dog mess!
G31 posted on the 30/03/2015 6:08:25 PM
Does anyone else stay in Whitehill Place and is fed up with the ridiculous amount of dog mess? //
It is clearly the same dogs doing it, however the issue lies with the owner. They sadly don't look the most approachable of couples and they tend to send their young daughter out with the dogs often and don't give her any bags.
This morning I stood on some as I came out the front door, I am getting so annoyed as are our neighbours.
Someone has started putting signs next to every poo asking the owner to clean it up which is pretty clever but it's not solving the issue.
Help!!!

Hi there
I live in Whitehill Court and we have a big patch of grass in the middle. I've asked the Factors several times to put signs up to ask people to stop using it for their dogs but they won't. I contacted Glasgow City Council and asked them to put up notices and i'm still waiting (mind you it was ages ago so should chase it up). It might be worth contacting Edzell who are the Factors and reporting the block. Alternatively stick a note up on the close door. I've seen the little signs and congratulate the person who is putting them up. Good on you!

If you can provide some details, this would seem to be the place: www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=1160
You could also try this lot: www.saferglasgow.com/

Its not just whitevale place that's bad, I walked along Reidvale Street 10 mins ago and had to doge umpteen piles it. Hopefully this heavy rain washes it away....till the owners come back out and let their dogs loose!

Unfortunately the sign is too late as somebody (you and me) have already stepped in it. It's a tricky thing to catch as a dog can do it's business in a few seconds (no iPhones on the toilet for 20 mins lol). I hate being that guy but I really don't know what to do or say anymore. I'm absolutely sick of it, the council can't do a lot as they need to be caught in the act.

They don't need to be caught in the act. You can call to report locations that are particularly bad for dog fouling, and resources will be deployed accordingly.

I live in Roslea and its awful round here too. I had a long chat last week with the GCC cleansing dept, they are looking to increase the wardens and bins in the area but I don't think this will help! he said in some extreme cases people can actually get the dogs removed from their care, its about educating the dog owners more than anything, I have a dog and always pick up after him. Apart from the fact its disgusting and unhealthy I would not have the brass neck to walk away!

I've contacted the council and to be fair they must be getting hammered across the city about this. It's disgusting. I put a note up in the foyer of the building and it got ripped down. I am friendly with a few people in the building and we all know who the culprit is. We have pictures of the dogs but just know that this will create havoc with the owners!
I know it doesn't seem it just now but summer is on the way (finally!) and I for one would like to be able to sit outside without the fear of sitting in a pile of s***e! It's just so frustrating.

Hi, I'm from Whitehill place as well I noticed the tags installed by a smart person but unfortunately the owners are showing no signs of improvement sadly they are getting too intense and dog poo has become more prominent. Nevertheless appreciate the effort of tagger indeed.

I have recently moved to Roselea Drive from the West End, and I am in complete disbelief at the amount of dog waste around Roselea/Whitehill street. I have complained to the council twice about this now and will not stop until I see actions being taken. Also the amount of rubbish lying around is outrageous, even in the Church lawn areas, its terrible! We need more bins!!

Used to be a street cleaner for Roslea who was around every other day or so - you'd see him hanging out on Whitehill St in that arch between Coia's and Tapa when it was raining. Used to regularly sweep the streets and empty the bins. There was also the street uplift of bulky items every Thursday (which in my opinion worked well and some people have still not realised has stopped). Seems the council got rid of local street cleaners when the economic crisis hit as a money saving measure (supposedly replaced by those mechanised little road sweeping vehicles which you see once in a blue moon)and provision since has been patchy at best but mostly non-existent unless enough people moan about it or there's a major international sporting event in town.

hi I'd like to appeal on this forum to all the people who let their dogs foul the streets and surrounding areas but unfortunately they probably are not intelligent so won't even read this thread so I'm wasting my time. The best thing to do (I do it) is to ask them is " Would you like a bag to pick that up". The effect usually works thus shaming them into it. If they don't already have a bag. I always have one or two in my pocket or handbag even when I'm not with my dog. Also you can visit local MP Paul Martin his shop is on Alexandra parade to complain . Good luck as this problem is getting worse and worse

I live in Whitehill Court and I've complained on this forum as the area of grass we have we pay a maintainance fee to have the grass cut and I have children who play on the patch of grass. I've complained to the Factor several times to ask for signs to be put up saying 'no dog fouling' but to no avail. To me it's a health and safety issue. There should be designated 'dog areas' although the grassy area on Onslow Drive seems to be an unofficial one. I wish people weren't so selfish!!

The enclosed gardens of Whitehill st appear to have been claimed by the dogwalkers . I was rebuked for attempting to feed the birds by walkers who claimed it was a doggy park and pointed to the " no fowling" sign as justification for this assumption . These areas are public utilities for the benefit of all and should be respected as such . Onslow

can anyone confirm if the enclosed bit of grass next to bowling green is for dogs? I normally take my dog up to ally park but that would be handy for mornings.

I hope not. Can you imagine the stink. Pity the poor folk living there.
