Site of old parade bar, meadowpark street

Pb posted on the 14/04/2015 9:45:45 AM

This morning a digger and drill appeared and started to drill the concreted foundations left by the building. Any suggestions how I could find out nature of works and how long the will last? My bedroom is right over the site and as a shift worker its.... Rotten.

Contact Glasgow City Council Development and Regeneration Services. The work will require a building warrant and any development will require planning permission, therefore they should have the details of what the work is. They are in George Street and you can go in and view plans etc.

this was in other thread - about the seat garage

There are going to be more flats built soon on the site of the old Parade pub. All my neighbours got the letter and proposed plans in today. Fortunately they are providing some parking spaces so it won't affect us too much it's already hard to get parked near your home between people attending the doctors surgery or going to the local cafe's etc or when folk from other peripheral areas park their cars and get the bus into town its just really frustrating but do we really need MORE flats!!!

In January I talked with a surveyor after spotting him taking measurements on the site. He said block of flats was planned, although he had no knowledge of when this would be. There have been several of these plans in the years since the Parade Bar closed, but nothing's come of them. As someone resident in such proximity to the site it would be a requirement that you're issued with notification of any planning application. That doesn't exactly answer your question, but I hope it's some help.

Cube Housing Association has submitted plans for 27 flats contained within two blocks.

It's good to see some much-needed social housing being built in the area.

This application was flagged up at DCC meeting on 14th April. Main issue highlighted was that the number of off-street car parking spaces (8 in total) does not meet New Build design regulations for the 27 flats proposed.

Why do we need more social housing in the area? How about more help to buy home to bring in a new generation of people to Dennistoun.
