Bins in Dennistoun

Paul posted on the 14/04/2015 5:54:13 PM

Walked down from Alexandra Parade to Roslea drive last Saturday and not one of the bins all the way down had been emptied. Every single bin was full and overflowing. I have emailed the council several times using the ap (which is dreadful) and they close the case and never reply. They dont address the issue that if every bin is full people will just dump the rubbish in the street. I cant see how it gets to the stage that every bin in Dennistoun (At least on those streets) could be full! Its a disgrace and the council should be ashamed!!

It seems street cleaning is on request only.

SMP Alison Thewliss is really passionate about making sure the bins are there and that they are empty. Might be worth emailing her.

I was looking for a contact for street cleaning exactly because of this problem last Friday - GCC website has no listings for street cleaning. I tried to complete their online complaints form as someone in the Environment Dept. presumably has responsibility and that info should be available - the complaints form didn't work properly. I've emailed to complain about both these things but have had no reply yet, however the bins on Roslea did get emptied on Monday, having been full the whole of the preceding week. GCC frequently do not meet their responsibilities but if you ever miss a council tax payment ...

Email LandServices.Mailroom@glasgow.gov.uk with your reference number from the app asking to be kept up to date with the progress. I regularly due this when they close the case and get a call to inform me of action taken.

I also chase it up after 28 days if no action has been taken.

Good Luck!

yes I agree I think the high school is a large part of it, its disgusting and some peoples gardens in my street (roslea) are full of litter, its like they don't have any pride in their area

This came up at a community council meeting last year attended by John Quinn from land services. He explained that bins on the drives are emptied weekly. It seems to occur on a Sunday. Regarding Whitehill School, at this month's meeting it was noted that residents have talked with the head teacher who has placed a request for more bins. The phone number for Clean Glasgow is 0800 027 7027.
