Can anyone tell me the name of the big newsagent that used to be on the corner of Dunchattan St and Edmund St in the 1950's and 60's. Thank-you.

hello Jeanette it was called Dixons great shop smashing sweets the sweets were on show on the edmund st side they had another window in dunchatin st cheer joe spent a lot of time there

I spent a fair amount of time there myself, buying all my weekly comics and buying fags for my parents---when it wasn't a hanging offence to send kids. I loved the smell in the shop----probably newspapers and firelighters.
