There's a guy knocking about Dennistoun asking for money from people by giving an elaborate story involving him and his pregnant fiancee. He seems very genuine and harmless and i almost gave him a tenner if it wasn't for the fact my girlfriend told me her pal had been given the exact same story 48 hours previously. He ia 6ft, red hair, late teens/early twenties, slightly overweight. His girlfriend his short with brown hair. Don't fall for their lies. I almost did.

Just wondering what else there was to convince you that he wasn't genuine Jim? Couldn't someone still be in the same difficulty 48 hours later? I'm sure there must be something else that you haven't posted.

wow - thanks for the warning Jim, what was the sob story that he told you ??

The story was his girlfriend had been mugged. He was not with her at the time when she was mugged but was with her there. She gave the impression she was upset. The mugger had his wallet and phone apparently. They had to get a train to Edinburgh. He told exactly the same story to a friend of a friend 48 hours earlier. He's at it.

You ever seen him with an old man's bunnet on? I think we've ran into the same bloke. He's really well dressed too.

A few weeks ago there was a girl going round (small with blond hair, vest top, short denim skirt) telling the shopkeepers she was doing a 10K run at Bellahouston and was looking for sponsors. Once she got some money off the shopkeeper (I was in the shop at the time) she ran over to a guy who was waiting at a close and gave him the money.

Had an encounter with this gentleman and his girlfriend last night on the bus into town, exact same story as described above, thankfully i had stumbled upon this forum during the week and was aware of this. Very friendly as well even when i said i had no money he was still pleasant - all part of the act.
