Kenny posted on the 21/09/2015 5:20:53 PM
A heads up for everyone. There have been three incidents I know of on Onslow drive within the last week. My neighbours door was kicked in Last Saturday night around 9pm and my mate two doors along was hit on Saturday just there. The police said there was another house hit the same night
Does anyone know of any more?

@Mummy we have an old fashioned yale lock on our intercom door and it has never been kicked in, I think that is the problem with the older magnetic locks - one swift kick breaks the magnetic contact, we have good neighbours as well though and if anyone hears someone trying to break the door they go out and chase them off instead of hiding behind their curtains thinking it is not their problem, we still get the occasional idiot who will leave the intercom door open as "they will only be a minute"

Last year we (our close) petitioned our factors for a new magnetic lock as its was repeatedly kicked open. We even got the service button turned off and the snib removed from the inside of the door so people couldn't jar it open. But someone gained access with the bin me I think and stole or communal digital aerial. We also has someone is early one morning skulking around the close, hiding behind the stair well wall. Each time I dialed 101 they were very could and send someone round within 15 mins.
Try and keep your communal doors locked and be vigilant, the guys hanging about the close was really creepy.

One that's always bothered me about tenement living is the service button.
I know bin men and the postie need to get in to do their jobs but as we know from posts like this it's not only folk doing their jobs that use it.
I don't know what the alternative would be but it's so easy for any unsavoury character to get in and out of closes during the quiet morning period when a lot of folk have set off for work.

Was the kitchen window left open a wee bit? Or did they force it open?

Shouldn't think it would be too much for a new lock with 8 keys. £100 possibly?
Yes this is shocking news for us all. Extra vigilance when closing front and back doors.
My mate lives in a bottom flat and apparently his kitchen window was where they got entry.

this is worrying, // the yale on our close door has been broken for months so we have to keep the snib off meaning anyone can wander in without buzzing. maybe we should chase the factors to get it fixed. HAHA no chance of that. anyone know the cost of a new lock on a close door?

Gutted. Just as we get back into the darker nights the typical burglaries kick off. I've not heard of any however I'll let my close know.
Does that explain the police van up on the parade...1000 yards away from the area?

Have suffered a number of thefts from garden and garage but despite both dog and an alarm ive experienced my first break in . i cannot describe the range of emotions and blur of the last few days . Please take heed and review all security measures . Any information however slight please pass on to Partick CID , we were not aware that there was other incidents on the same day so hopefully any information may be of service . Thankyou
