neighbours dog

Hi all. I live on Alexandra Parade and it seems I have a big problem. My neighbours dog currently barks non-stop (and i mean non-stop) from 8pm till 3am and starts again at 7am. It is very loud and the dog walks from room to room in their flat barking. I have never heard anything like it and it sounds like there is a major problem somewhere. I don't know what to do about it but I can't continue to have nights with no sleep. Any ideas where to start?

I would be more worried that something has happened to the owner like he collapsed and died or moved away and that's why the dog is barking all the time, if its happening late at night you could contact the police.
my uncles dog barked all the time until he got one of those stop barking collars and they really do work, it a small box that you attach to the dogs collar and every time the dog barks it makes a high pitched whistling which interrupts the dog, the dog stopped barking after a couple of days

I've always found a note winds them up even more. You have to do it face to face.

First put a note through their door politely explaining the situation. They may weirdly not be aware that it is causing a problem. If that doesn't work, phone the out of hours complaints unit at GCC on 0141 287 6688
They're pretty good and respond quickly. Good Luck!
(If you go to the GCC website and search for the term 'dog' you will find a link with more information)

We had a similar issue but we're on good terms with neighbours. They used a barking collar and it was an instant non harmful solution. A polite appriach, remain calm and polite whatever their reaction as they may initially be embarrassed, the dog owners are possibly stressed and struggling to find a solution too. Good luck

Have you tried having a word with them - usually the best place to start. But I know it can be risky if they take offence. The dog's behaviour is unusual. There must be something making it bark and pace like this. Is it in distress or being left alone for long periods? SSPCA might be interested. The factor, as Anon says, is worth consulting.Good luck, hope you get a good outcome.

Have you contacted the factors?
