Whats going on?

Heard a police car screeching up the Street at 6.30am today - closely followed by a second one. Heard that there have been a lot of cars vandalised overnight. Why? What's going on? What can be done to stop this idiotic behaviour and make our neighbourhood safer to live in? Answers on a postcard please.
