Sadly !! There is an increased amount of dumping rubbish in the area this includes bags of garden waste, mattresses, paint tins, furniture, wheels and shopping trolleys etc
The entrance to our close has recently been used making it impossible for a disabled resident to get into her home. Someone decided it was easier to walk up the street and dump their rubbish at our door ....... how rude when it's so simple to arrange a free uplift via Glasgow City Council

A business lane nearby is also regularly being used as a dumping ground and they are unable to access their property safely by car unless they personally move this rubbish. As a business they are regularly facing charges to have this lifted - when residential waste is collected free after a simple phone call / on-line form.

To keep the area clean and safe, can we encourage you to call the council to arrange for a collection of your old furniture/ rubbish.

Also, if you see anyone dumping in the lanes to private properties/ businesses you can report this via the My Glasgow website or alternately download the "My Glasgow" APP straight to your phone. (The Link to this is at the start of this message)

Several of our neighbours and businesses are having CCTV installed and will report dumping / flytipping which may result in fines for those found to be dumping their rubbish. ( Additional information - below or via www.glasgow.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=3639)

Please keep Dennistoun clean.

Additional information from MYGLASGOW

Staff within the Unit search through bags of domestic waste which have been illegally dumped in the street and issue a £80 fixed penalty fine in cases where the waste can be traced to a particular person or address.

Flytipping

Enforcement staff carry out surveillance at known fly-tipping sites in order to try and control this unacceptable behaviour. Fixed penalty notices of £200 may be issued for illegally dumping rubbish, i.e. fly-tipping. Major offenders may be referred to the Procurator Fiscal without the opportunity of paying a Fixed Penalty Notice and can face a fine of up to £40,000 by the courts.
