All,

I am looking to buy a unit in Dennistoun and turn into a family friendly bar with great food.

What are you thoughts on this and the current bars duke street has to offer?

The Duke Bar is up for sale, not sure if that's too big but its been screaming out for something to be done to improve it for years. I think if you could get permission for an outdoor seated area that would be great too.... Obviously not in this weather though :)

I'be really only been in the Duchess but I really like it. Comfortable, friendly, nice food, good atmosphere.

Is it specifically Duke St you're keen on? It's just that there's a lot of bars there but very little up on the Parade! I don't know what there is in the way of available units but a nice bar up that end I think would prove popular.

Sounds great to me. If out with my kids we tend to go to Tibo. Have been to Redmonds a few times but prefer to go for adult time rather than with my kids.

I think there may be some sort of deed from ye olden days that says there can't be a pub actually on the Parade but that may now be moot with Amore have a drinks licence.

There is ample room in dennistoun for another decent bar/ food venue. There are a number of traditional bars but I notice that places like redmonds and tibo are really popular with a good mixed crowd. There are lots of young people including students and those with young children who seem to enjoy the buzz that some of these stylish venues offer. Less flashy and and a bit of thought for the design would bring on the crowds. Just one view!

Duke Street is really nice.

For folks new to the area, Tibo, Redmonds and The Duchess are all great bars to visit and have a bite to eat. I'd say Tibo and The Duchess are more child friendly.

The Duke Bar has a new tenant who takes over this month (I know this as I run a comedy new material night there - 8pm start, starts back 30th Novemebr, free entry/free sandwiches/free raffle plug plug plug :) )

As others have stated there is more than ample room for another great bar, so i'd advise to go for it. The more family friendly places in the area the better. The Parade has nothing bar wise, aside from La Cala, though The Masters is a nice venue just off the Parade.

Agree alot with what James says. The lack of marketing/attempt at marketing by some bars is chronic.

I think Alexandra Parade could do with some more development - I'd fully support this.
