It could be the railway works - I know they are working on the line overnight at Shettleston area so probably connected.

I always thought it was against the law for loud construction works to occur after 6pm in a built up area, if I was in that area I think I would be phoning the police when this starts as the construction team is not above the laws and regulations, I realise that the work might be important but I am sure that they could shut part of the line during the non-rush daytime hours for the work to be completed and allow the residence some peace at night to sleep.

It says on the letter they have the law to do it .
Because it's minimum disruption to the services

We lived at 573 Duke Street (many years ago) when the tramlines on Duke Street were being dug out - pneumatic drills going all night long! It wasn't great, but we got over it.

Bally - do you really think they would begin work without checking that they were able to.
I bet if they shut the line even at non-rush daytime hours, people would be on here moaning that services were being disrupted!
