help - how to dispose of garden waste

anon posted on the 10/08/2019 1:37:55 AM

I cut my hedges and lawn back last week and ended up with three black bags full of cuttings, I put them in the metal bin canisters in the bin shed only to find out that when the bin men were emptying the bins they had pulled the bags out and left them lying outside the bin shed - I guess they don't take cuttings, only general household waste.
now I am left with three bags full of cuttings which are quite heavy and I don't have a car to take them to the council dump, what does everyone else in the area do with their garden waste

not sure on this one but could you not put them in the gray waste food bins that are in the back court, I know you are allowed to put vegtable peelings, waste fruit and cut flowers, but I am not sure if they also pick up grass and hedge cuttings

I usually get them taken by the bin men, but, you have to report them as Bulky Waste.
you will have to go to the Glasgow City Council website. Good luck,
Wullie

I would suggest that you don't put them in the grey bin, as this is only indented for food waste. If you do the bin men may refuse to empty it.

Suggest you contact the council and arrange a bulk uplift. They are usually quite quick at picking it up.

Regards,

Rory

Contact Dennistoun Diggers, I bet someone with a compost heap would love your cuttings.

@rob - I think hedge cutting would have to be shredded before they could be composted, and grass cutting are hard to compost as well
