McNeill’s Baking For You closing their Cumbernauld Road bakery and tearoom

The family run bakery and tearoom on Cumbernauld Road opposite Alexandra Park is closing after 50 years serving the east end of Glasgow.

Owner Ray McNeill said: "It's getting tougher and the day to day running costs just not as easy."

The McNeill's bakery first opened in 1972 near Glasgow Royal Infirmary and moved to premises in Duke Street then later to 400 Cumbernauld Road.

It is expected that M & D Green Pharmacy will take over the use of the premises in due course.

Their tearoom and takeaway at 490 Ballater Street, Gorbals will continue to operate.
