Alexandra Parade Station Upgrade Nears Completion

Passengers eager for the reopening of Alexandra Parade station will have to wait slightly longer, Network Rail has announced. The £1.75 million upgrade project, focusing on Platform 1 and station-wide improvements, is now slated for completion and return to service on Sunday, May 18th.

While the bulk of the work, funded by the Scottish Government's ongoing investment in Scotland's Railway, is in its final stages, Network Rail acknowledged that the project has taken a little longer than initially anticipated. Teams are currently working diligently to finalize the upgrade and rebuild of Platform 1, which includes significant accessibility enhancements for visually impaired passengers. The project also encompasses the installation of modern lighting and enhanced CCTV coverage across the entire station, promising a safer and more comfortable environment for all travellers.

"We understand that this slight delay will be frustrating for passengers, and we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused," stated a Network Rail spokesperson. "Our teams are fully committed to completing the programme as quickly and efficiently as possible to deliver the modern, safer platform that passengers deserve."

The comprehensive upgrade involves the complete demolition and reconstruction of Platform 1, incorporating features designed to improve accessibility. The new lighting and CCTV systems across the station will further enhance passenger safety and security.

Passengers are advised to continue checking travel information for alternative arrangements until the station reopens on Sunday, May 18th.
