Update: Great News for Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre
After a long search, we're thrilled to announce that The Halliday Foundation has been chosen as the preferred new tenant to run the Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre! This means a bright and sustainable future for our beloved community hub in Dennistoun.
The Halliday Foundation is a highly respected Glasgow-based charity dedicated to tackling poverty, homelessness, and isolation. They're known for their fantastic work, including providing food, wellbeing support, job training, and volunteering opportunities. Their focus on grassroots engagement and compassionate support really resonated with the Reidvale community's values.
Reidvale Housing Association (RHA) has been working hard since late spring, carefully looking at proposals from three local organizations. Denise Dempsey, Chairperson at RHA, shared her excitement, saying, "This space means so much to everyone, and reaching this stage brings us closer to securing its long-term future."
The good news is that the centre will remain open throughout this transition, so all the groups and individuals who rely on it can continue to use its services without interruption.
Julie Smillie, Interim Director at RHA, added, "It's been a long journey, and we're confident The Halliday Foundation is the right organization to help the centre thrive. We were so impressed by the passion in all the proposals – it truly shows how much this place means to so many."
Chris Halliday, Director of Operations at The Halliday Foundation, is just as enthusiastic: "We're honored to have been chosen. Our main goal is a smooth transition, building on the excellent services already in place. We're committed to working closely with everyone – existing partners, users, and local residents – to make sure the centre remains a welcoming, inclusive, and empowering space."
The Halliday Foundation also plans to introduce exciting new services and activities for all ages, from children and families to older adults. Their vision is to build on the centre's reputation as a vibrant hub that supports everyone's wellbeing, connection, and opportunities.
A formal agreement is expected to be finalized this July, followed by a handover period. This move is part of RHA's wider 10-year plan to improve governance, service quality, and empower local communities. RHA, founded in 1975, has a proud history of saving Glasgow's iconic tenement buildings and is now focused on reinvesting in its communities and delivering modern housing and services to its over 1,000 tenants.
We're all looking forward to this exciting new chapter for the Reidvale Neighbourhood Centre!
