Digi-PALS at Dennistoun Library

http://www.dennistoun.co.uk/uploads/457_Digi-PALS-Dennistoun.jpg

Glasgow Libraries volunteer-led Digi-PALS programme could be the helping hand you need to learn how to print, text, shop online or search for a job.

With more vital services going online, lack of access and understanding of technology can create huge divides across our city. Glasgow Libraries are using their position at the heart of the community to create opportunities for citizens to engage with computer, smart phone and tablet basics.

Digi-PALS are stationed at 14 of the city's libraries with Dennistoun Library running a session every Tuesday from 10am - 1pm. Digi-PALS sessions can last from five minutes to an hour, depending on the type of query, with volunteers providing one to one support.

Councillor Archie Graham, Chair of Glasgow Life, said: "With more than 40% of Glaswegians still without access to the internet at home - that's over 115,000 households across the city - even the thought of turning a computer on or sending a text message can be a daunting prospect for many of our citizens.

"By providing a personalised drop-in service we can support all Glaswegians to engage with technology on their doorstep, whether they need help with using computers, want to do their banking online or simply need to print vital documentation.

In addition to the Digi-PALS programme, library users are able to access fast, free and secure PCs to complete routine and life-changing activities, from shopping online and printing boarding-passes to searching for jobs and applying for college.

To find out more about Digi-PALS, or are keen to find out more about what library computers can do for you, please call 0141 276 1785 or visit www.glasgowlife.org.uk/libraries

Major road building project at east end of Duke Street
Council about to decide whether to proceed with new road connecting the roundabout by Asda at the Forge with the M8 junction to the north of Alexandra Park. Likely to cause some pretty major disruption for a couple of years if heading east out of Dennistoun. Notice it also goes across the allotments at Edinburgh Rd/Cumbernauld Road junction.
